Freshbooks finally has an Android App

August 15, 2013 By Jonathan Jeter Leave a Comment

freshbooks android appI’ve been using Freshbooks (disclaimer: I get a commission if you sign up with them) since 2007 as my online accounting and invoicing service and in that time I’ve seen them change from a very basic online invoicing service to a full-service, cloud-based accounting system that includes projects, time tracking, estimates, reporting and an API that you can use to program your own customer support system. I’ve used Freshbooks to create estimates for website work, manage time in projects and invoice for completed work, hosting expenses and even billing for monthly rent on rental properties. It is efficient, simple and easy to use for customers receiving estimates and invoices.

I’ve been using their website on my phone as I’m depositing checks at the ATM for a while now and has been a less than ideal experience, so I was excited to see how the mobile app would work. The Freshbooks crew take their time and make sure they get things right when adding new services, which is why it took so long to get an Android app built. The app does what I need it to do when I’m doing accounting on my phone. I can enter payments and expenses, track my time and create estimates quickly. If I need to create a new client to create an estimate, I can import the client from my contact, which makes sense, because if I’m going to send an estimate, I’ve probably communicated with this person before.

The reports section sends you to the browser or gives you the option to email the report to yourself with the explanation that “Reports look best on your computer,” which is probably true, but I think some basic reporting in the app would have been helpful.

I think the folks at Freshbooks have done a great job on the app and I’m glad it’s finally here.
